FC Barcelona, also known as Barça, was founded in 1899 by a group of Swiss, English and Spanish men led by Joan Gamper. Barcelona play their home matches at the world famous Camp Nou (New Camp) stadium, which has a huge capacity of 98,722. Unlike a lot of other clubs, Barcelona is owned by the supporters. It has over 105,000 members and over 1,500 supporters' clubs. The city of Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia and is the second largest city in Spain after Madrid.
Barcelona have won La Liga 20 times, the Copa del Rey 25 times. In Europe they have won the UEFA Champions League 3 times and the UEFA Cup Winners Cup 4 times. In 2009 they won the FIFA Club World Cup for the first time. In that year they were the first Spanish side to win the treble of La Liga, the Champions League and the Copa del Rey, as part of a sextuple, when they won an incrediblle six competitions! They won the La Liga title in 2010/11 and battled with their fierce rivals Real Madrid for this year's title, before coming second. They were knocked out of the 2011/12 UEFA Champions league by Chelsea.
The 2011/12 FC Barcelona Home Football Shirt pays homage to the champs from Catalonia with distinctive design details and breathability for comfort on and off the field. FC Barcelona's woven club crest appears at the left chest of this shirt, and behind it--on the inside, close to the heart of those dedicated to the game--“Tots units fem força” (All United, We Have the Strength) is printed. Renowned stripes lend a bold style, and finished hems prevent fraying and deliver a polished look. A screen-print sponsor logo spans the centre chest for a nod to the backers of the team, while a club graphic and league badge adorn the centre back and right sleeve.
